Praveen C. Goyal
District Governor 2018-19 Rotary International District 3080

Praveen Chander Goyal, was born on 18th July, 1958. His father Mr.Shri Chand Goyal was an illustrious personality of Chandigarh. A Senior Advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, he was the first Member of Parliament from the City Beautiful. His family belongs to village Kaimla near Gharaunda in District Karnal.
Praveen Chander Goyal graduated in B.A. (Honours) from DAV College, Chandigarh and further did his LL.B from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Practising as an Advocate in High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh since 1982, he was also elected as Secretary of High Court Bar Association. He was appointed as Senior Standing Counsel for Union of India (now termed as Assistant Solicitor General of India) in 1998. He also served as Additional Advocate General of Punjab from 2007 to 2013.
Praveen’s first involvement with Rotary started as a young Interactor, while he was in school.
He joined Rotaract Club of Chandigarh in 1982 and served as District Rotaract Representative in 1985-86. He was selected as a member of the Group Study Exchange Team to USA in 1988. He was Invited to join Rotary Club of Chandigarh in 1988 and served as its President in 2000-01. He was declared as the Best President of the District and his Club was adjusted as the Best Club of the District. During that year his home club's contribution of US $ 32,000 was 50% of total collection of the District. Important projects during his year as Club President included setting up of Rs. 3.5 Crore Blood Resource Centre at Chandigarh as well as gifting of a Mobile Dental Van. The year saw 35 new members being added A new Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Himalyan Ranges Mansa Devi was sponsored. 32 Rotarians of the Club were awarded Paul Harris Fellow recognitions. He was declared winner of “Kaun Banega PHF” quiz on Rotary Information.
He served the District as District Secretary in 1997-98. He served as District Editor on five occasions and has served as Chairman of important committees like GSE, GSE Hosting and Membership Extension. 15 new Rotary Clubs were added during his terms. Five GSE teams were hosted in the District during his tenures as Chairperson. Praveen served as Assistant Governor in 2004-05 under then DG Parmod K. Vij.
Polio Eradication is his passion and he has been working hard to realize our common dream,  since he joined Rotary till today. It is his dream that Polio is eradicated from the face of earth in the coming years. He has served as District Polio Chairman for five terms and is recipient of the highest National Award “The Rotary Foundation Regional Service Award for a Polio Free World” for the same. He was also declared as “Rotarian of the Year” in 2005-6.
Served as District Governor of Rotary District 3080 which was full of action. Seven new Rotary Clubs were added and 36 new Rotaract Clubs were added which was a world record of forming the maximum number of Rotaract Clubs.
He is happily married to Ann Basu and they have a daughter Aarti, who after doing her B.Com (Hons.) LL.b from Panjab University at Chandigarh is practising in Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh. Recently She has completed her Masters in Law from Columbia University and is a member of Rotary Club of Chandigarh.
All his family members are Paul Harris fellows.
